Virtual Conferences

The advancement of technology has allowed companies to reach a far greater audience with the use of modern communication and tried and tested platforms such as online events and conferences. But what exactly is a virtual event?

‘’A virtual event involves interacting people sharing a common virtual environment on the web, rather than meeting in a physical location. Virtual events are highly interactive, looking and feeling a lot like their physical counterparts.’’ Source:

A webinar is not necessarily a virtual conference

It is important to distinguish between a webinar and a virtual conference. A webinar is more of a single discussion or meeting. A virtual conference is the full package: including speakers, interactive websites, workshops and more.

 ‘Real deal’ Conferencing

So while the benefits of a ‘real deal’ conference are tried, tested and proven, virtual conferences are relatively new in the conferencing industry but works much the same way, except without the snacks and physical face time.

With a physical conference or event you get to interact and immerse yourself in the subject matter while feeding off the energy of your peers. It’s a great chance to network and bounce ideas off each other too.

Virtual Conferences

Virtual conferences, if done properly can gather people from all corners of the globe (if necessary) under one ‘roof’ making it easier to co-ordinate. By introducing a virtual element to your event by making use of mini-sites, live recordings, interactive chat-rooms and more, you are able to share your live conference event, or purely virtual event with a much broader audience.

This may not be a nececssary addition to your event if it’s your sales team spending 3 days in the bush and brushing up on some techniques. However, if you would like to share your event with your customers, position yourself as thought leader in your industry, or entice new business through showcasing your company, a virtual conference on it’s own or linked to a physical company event is sure to be a winner.

Put the two together & what do you get?

Undeniably the best conferencing experience has got to be a physical event. Not only is it more enjoyable to meet new people face to face, but the immersive experience can be more memorable and interactve.

However there certainly are benefits to taking your event online and providing a platform for those who would like to be there, but can’t. It’s also a great way to add another dimension to your event with websites, videos and live broadcasts.

You want all of your events and conferences to be a spectacle, an unforgettable experience that resonates with your audience, and by adding a virtual element you add that extra platform that will make it one to remember.
